Yesterday was the 100 year anniversary of the Easter rising in Dublin. A very important day in Irish history.





The celebrations have been going on for a few weeks in the lead up to yesterday.The GPO in Dublin being the main focus point. I wish I was there to join in in the celebrations.

Bunratty Castle The site on which Bunratty Castle stands was in origin a Viking trading camp in 970. The present structure is the last of four castles to be built on the site. Early History Robert De Muscegros, a Norman, built the first defensive fortress (an earthen mound with a strong wooden tower on top) in 1250.
